Atherton Hough 5th grader, Emily McCarthy has decided to run for the Mayor of Houghs Neck. Emily McCarthy is a lifelong resident of Houghs Neck. She is finishing her last year at Atherton Hough and moving up to 6th grade at Broad Meadows. She has a love for dancing, swimming, reading, soccer, basketball, and works hard at school. She enjoys playing Sims & Mind Craft. Emily is a member of the YMCA swim team and has worked hard to improve her times to qualify for higher competition. She is a Jr. Member of TRYC and a member of the sailing club. She has competed in Quincy Bay Race Week, Lipton Cup, and TRYC regatta she has improved her skills race after race year after year. Emily has attended & volunteered for Cleaner Greener Quincy, July 3rd Family Fun Day, ChowdaFest, Bunny Fun Day, Atherton Hough Kindergarten helper and many political Campaigns. Emily enjoys lunch with her friends and going to the park. Mayor of Houghs Neck Campaign Kickoff Breakfast June 9th 9-11am at MBS Church Hall Help Emily begin her fundraising and enjoy a great breakfast all for only $5.00 Kids Karaoke Sunday June 23 from 2pm - 5 pm at Louis 1269 Sea Street Houghs Neck Sing and Dance to the Music by Karaoke Dave. Admission is $10 family cap of $25 Mohawk / Wiffle Cut-A-Thon Sunday June 23 from 10am - 11:30am at the Houghs Neck Fire Station. The hair cuts will be done by Houghs Neck Resident Piero Bonsignore of Salon Gabbana Mohawks $7.00 ~ Wiffle $5.00 All proceeds go to the campaign and support The Houghs Neck Community Councils Mission of building and fostering a better community. Started in 2008 the Mayor of Houghs Neck contest is a fun and easy way to assist the Council to raise funds to run their programs. Anyone from the community can be a “candidate”, just start by hosting a fund raiser in their name and donate the proceeds to the council. The candidate that raises the most will be presented with a special Flounder trophy and be introduced at various functions. It is only a “Name” and those elected will not hold an official office, just the honor of being the “Mayor of Houghs Neck”. The 2013 Campaign starts Memorial Day and runs till Labor Day, the winner will be introduced during the Annual Chowdafest at the Maritime Center.
